Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

This update on his health follows the boxing community had expressed condolences for the champion in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
