Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

First, the group understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the team reach areas they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This means them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
