Spurs Boss Thomas Frank Calls Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Genuine Fans'
Fulham Start Strong to Beat Spurs and Raise Tension on Frank
Tottenham Hotspur fans who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed later "they cannot be real Spurs supporters" by manager Thomas Frank.
Spurs let in a pair of scores in the first six minutes to fall 2-1 to their opponents, marking their 10th top-flight home defeat of the year.
However the main talking point was the visitors' next score when the keeper gave away possession far beyond his box.
He came out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball towards the touchline.
But, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italian turned and attempted to clear, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.
The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who curled a shot into the goal from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.
Seconds later when the ball came to the keeper again, some Spurs supporters booed him.
Spurs were jeered off at the interval, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at full-time.
A particular of those jeering sessions truly angered the manager.
"It came to my attention a few of our supporters apparently jeered the situation and jeered following, which, in my view is completely unacceptable," the Danish manager commented regarding the fans' reaction to his shot-stopper.
"Those individuals can't be real Spurs supporters that act that way. Fair enough booing following the match, fine, but when we are playing, we are backing one another, we are with each other moving ahead."
Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute lead prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an improved second-half showing.
Ex- top-flight goalkeeper Hart remarked that the next goal was "totally avoidable".
"I do appreciate the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the part the keeper is playing. He's a great squad member, he is a real figure in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your decisions.
"He was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the decisive score."
'It is Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'
Thomas Frank Defended His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Match
Italy international the keeper is in his 3rd campaign with Tottenham.
The 29-year-old stated after the game that he had to accept the feedback.
"That score was a mistake of my own, I accept responsibility for that," he commented.
"My aim was to kick the ball long and I just struck the ball in a poor way. That made an more difficult mountain to overcome."
He said being booed "comes with the game".
"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he added. "The team can't be affected by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the entitlement to do as they see fit.
"It's on us to stay increasingly composed, to focus on our own performance. We are missing in calmness and calmness to overturn outcomes. Today is a poor defeat and it is hard to take."
'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Line'
Despite the keeper's error, it was not an simple goal for Wilson to convert.
Actually it was the next longest-range Premier League goal of the campaign – following Adams' 43.3 metre strike for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which incidentally also occurred on Saturday.
The goalscorer stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an empty goal to target.
Ten moments passed between the keeper coming out of his area and Wilson striking – which was five seconds following the kick.
"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was away from the box for ages," he remarked.
"It amazed me none of the defenders went back to the line. When not one of them covered the net, my interest lit up somewhat.
"Udogie fell too, which gave me a bit of extra time. After that it was solely about attempting to achieve the correct contact and place it on target. I had a good sense, the moment it came off my boot, that it was heading in."
'When You're in a Bad Spell, Everything Seems to Go Against You'
Booing While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank
Although Vicario's mistake dominated headlines, this was an overall poor day for Tottenham to continue their home ground struggles.
The match was their tenth home defeat of the year in the Premier League, a joint club statistic along with nineteen ninety-four and 2003.
They still have home games against the manager's former club Brentford and title holders Liverpool to play prior to the end of the year.
Just a single of those wins have occurred after Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou in the summer.
"When you're behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated Frank.
"During in a bad spell, all aspects appears to go against you as well – the first was a deflected attempt, the second is a error from Vic.
"The outcome puts us in a position where we have lost another match. Each fixture has a single narrative, today we were defeated in the early stages.
"We just need to keep working. The second half was significantly improved and with luck something we can utilize to learn."
Tottenham have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.
And they are recording nine point five shots and 3.2 shots on target per match in the division – their lowest averages on file in a single season (dating back to the 2003-04 season).
Ex- Fulham midfield player Murphy commented that the manager has to endure the criticism.
"He must take the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He has accepted a high profile job at a major team with massive expectation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.
"The performances at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
