The Latest Relaxed Playlist Sparks Intense Discussions Regarding Bots, XP Rewards, and Queue Times

Recently, Battlefield Studios launched a new playlist titled Casual Breakthrough. In essence, this option resembles the standard Breakthrough setup but includes a few key adjustments:

  • Each team has only eight human participants, with the remaining made up of AI-controlled opponents.
  • Activities done by human gamers award full XP, while bot actions provide lower rewards.
  • Just a pair of maps are available: Cairo Siege and Empire State map.
  • Features like Dogtags, achievements, and career stat updates are disabled.

So essentially, the playlist delivers on its name: it's a laid-back take of Breakthrough. At face value, you might think it's a good idea, as it gives additional choices for gamers seeking alternative ways to enjoy the title. But, gaming history have taught us anything, it's that not everyone will be happy. In other words, a lot of Battlefield 6 fans are upset.

Player Reactions: Anger to Praise

"People want real players. Avoid making the mistakes of your competitors," reads one reply to the official announcement. "Truly disappointing concept," says another. At the same time, on the Battlefield subreddit, one user remarks, "I have no idea where we are headed with this game," while someone else details everything they believe to be problematic in Battlefield 6: "Resolve glitches, fix drone glitch, correct rocket mechanics, adjust aiming after sprinting, fix awful hit registration. We do not require this AI-heavy playlist."

On the other hand, amid the criticism, some gamers explaining how much they're enjoying the new mode. "It's enjoyable to warm up, human participants prevent it from being a total farmfest but it's very relaxed," reads a forum post. "The community doesn't understand that there are players who actually go outside and can't play this game 24/7. Allow them to strike a balance," states another. A response via social media explains that as they're "a battledad with busy schedules, this is perfect for me," and another praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition."

Constructive Criticisms and Player Feedback

Despite the support, players have constructive reasons to complain about Casual Breakthrough. A few folks have pointed out that it could increase wait times even longer for other modes due to the sheer number of playlists currently available. Similarly, certain regions often face AI-filled matches in the current modes. It also seems somewhat counterintuitive that the mode does not begin without a required amount of human gamers, even though it primarily centers on combat against bots.

Lastly, a major complaints is that Battlefield Portal was meant to provide full XP, even against bots, but that was removed when they tried to remove bot farms from the mode. So this new playlist seems like the player base meeting them halfway, according to forum feedback. A different user labels this addition as the devs "making a mistake so hard, I had so much fun in the initial release, why did they feel the need to adjust it?"

Looking Ahead: Adjustments Occur?

If the development team has demonstrated something so far with the latest installment, it's that they're listening and acting on player input. Tasks being too difficult were adjusted rapidly, as did the specific battle pass objectives. Chances are that, if their data shows this recent mode is underperforming to their expectations, they will not hesitate to change it again.
