Emergency crews were working to restore energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews activated to address the extensive power failures.

Victoria's Climate Difficulties

At the same time, around one thousand residents in Victoria also encountered power outages after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in a year and a half.

State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the state, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

Most Affected Regions

  • The Werribee area - saw significant storm damage
  • Hoppers Crossing - various emergency calls
  • Wyndham - nearly 180 emergency requests

During the peak on Sunday, in excess of twenty-eight thousand energy customers in Victoria were experiencing outages.

Meteorological Predictions

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.

The following day was expected to become the most rainy day, with continued storm activity expected across various areas of both areas.

Safety Concern

Medical authorities warned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, especially given the current weather patterns.

This caution comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
