Trey Yesavage delivered a performance for the ages and Davis Schneider launched a home run on the game's initial offering as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Los Angeles Dodgers six to one on Wednesday evening, moving within one victory of their first title since 1993.

Yesavage's Historic Outing

The young Yesavage, who debuted in the majors this past September, fanned a dozen batters without a single walk – the first pitcher in World Series history to do so. The rookie right-hander surrendered just one run on three hits over seven frames. He started the season in Class A before sparse crowds, but has now earned two starting wins in the series in this championship series.

Early Offensive Explosion

Toronto’s hitters jumped out to a fast lead. On the initial throw, Schneider drilled a 97-mile-per-hour heater and drove it over the left-field wall. Immediately after, Vladimir Guerrero Jr added a second home run to almost the exact same place. It marked the first time in World Series history that the game began with two straight homers, shocking the spectators before most had settled in.

Yesavage Takes Control

Yesavage then took over. He retired five straight via strikeout between the second and third innings, setting a rookie record before Hernández ended the run with a solo shot in the third inning to make it two to one. That was the Dodgers' closest approach.

Building the Advantage

In the fourth, Daulton Varsho tripled down the right-field line after a misplay, and Ernie Clement lifted a sacrifice fly to bring him home for a 3–1 lead. The Dodgers’ offensive struggles deepened from there. After managing six runs in a lengthy extra-inning contest, they’ve produced just four runs in their last 29 innings.

Late Inning Insurance

The starting pitcher battled through six and two-thirds innings but was chased in the seventh after the bases became full. The runners he allowed both crossed the plate – thanks to a errant throw and another on an RBI single – to extend the lead to 5–1. A eighth-inning base hit provided the last run.

Relievers Seal the Deal

Yesavage exited to a standing ovation from the Toronto faithful, and the relievers finished the job. The relief corps each pitched an inning without allowing a run to secure the victory, combining for three strikeouts while protecting the rookie's gem.

The Dodgers, who rearranged their batting order in hopes of igniting the offense, again found little traction. Their top hitter went 0-for-4 and is now riding an 0-for-7 skid since a record-setting on-base performance in Game 3.
