The loved ones of teens missing after a deadly fire at a venue in a Swiss ski resort are facing an agonising wait for official news and appealing for any details about their children publicly.

The blaze engulfed the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the small hours of the first day of the year. Circulated footage depict the ceiling being engulfed in flames as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Authorities have stated that it could take considerable time to formally name the those who perished of the disaster, which claimed the lives of numerous partygoers and injured another scores more. Officials said on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with the process still underway to identify the final individuals.

In the interim, loved ones have been posting on social media to appeal for any news about their friends who were in attendance that night.

Desperate Searches for the Unaccounted For

The whereabouts of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are still unconfirmed, according to an public plea from his parent.

The resident of Lutry near the city, told a local newspaper that she had gone back to the city to see if he was in the medical facility, while his other parent did the equivalent search in the capital, but did not locate him.

"This is a living nightmare, a horror. The options are finding my son in the morgue, or I find him in intensive care. It's horrific," she said.

She added that some of his companions had been found with injuries covering nearly half their bodies. "It's indescribable; they went through a terrifying ordeal."

The Italy's foreign ministry has confirmed that six of its young people are still unaccounted for.

One of his educators said, "I remember his kindness and positive demeanor, combined with great responsibility. Every time ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Greek and Swiss nationality but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also at the bar on that night, according to reports.

Her sibling has published an urgent request on social media, saying the family has had "no updates" regarding the 15-year-old or the group she was with, who are also reported missing.

Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the situation.
